Advertisement announcing the opening and admission charges
of the Roman Baths, Jesus Lane, Cambridge, 1863

Charge sadvertisement
< Cambridge Independent Press (21 Feb 1863)

This advertisement appeared on a couple of occasions only in the local newspapers in February 1863.

Even at this late stage, a few days before the opening of the baths, the company was still offering free admission tickets to anyone buying shares before 1 March. It seems to have been assumed that anyone living in Cambridge knew what thermae were as no explanation is provided in the ad.
