The Argyll Baths: charges in the 1880s

1880s flyer

This 1880s Argyle Baths price-list was probably issued in 1885 at the same time as the new edition of Baths and bathing, which A Heather Bigg wrote for the opening of Jones & Company's refurbished baths.

It did not list the price of Turkish baths as such, but referred to them as 'Hot-air' baths. The prices for the vapour and hot-air baths 'complete processes' included a shampoo as well as the use of the shower.

The Argyle Baths in New Broad Street seem only to have started pricing Turkish baths by name when the Nevilles rebuilt the baths as The New Broad Street Turkish Baths in 1895.
