Sheffield's Glossop Road Turkish Baths:
part of the hot room tiled floor

Part of the tiled floor in one of the hot rooms
< Photo: Shifrin

This photograph of some of the floor tiles in one of the hot rooms in no way does the tiles justice. It was taken by flash in a totally dark boarded up room, about five years after the baths had closed. At this time the tiles seemed to be in good condition though they were, of course, not clean. The floor no longer remains today; it was maintained that the damage sustained during the intervening years was such that it could no longer be restored.
