The wood engraving of the meshlak (left) was published in the Illustrated London News before the baths opened. The artist who drew the picture for the engraver would have had access to George Daniel Stevenson's presentation illustrations for architect George Somers Clarke's clients, the London and Provincial Turkish Bath Company Limited.
This is one of two illustrations of the London Hammam executed by Stevenson (1845-1931). 'Stevenson, a draughtsman, detailed much of the Tower Bridge in London for Sir Horace Jones, and later, after Jones' death, took over the work on the bridge.'
