Victorian Turkish Baths Picture of the Month for September 2015

Vancouver Turkish Baths: Locker token, 1911

Canadian token

Very little was known about the early days of these baths until the appearance of this token, a year or so ago. Trying Google for more information produced a few further details. It was located at 744 West Hastings Street, and was managed between at least 1911 and 1930 by Ebenezer A Andrew. It survived, latterly as a well-known gay cruising space, until some time in the 1970s.
